INCREASE IN DRINKING
PRESBYTERY ALARMED ACUTE N.Z. PROBLEM (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A'discussion took place in the Auckland Presbytery to-night on increased drinking in the community, which was definitely attributed by some members to the recent legislation. The Rev. W. Bower Black said that increased drinking was proving a very real and poignant social problem, and leading .to widespread breaches of the licensing laws. The Rev. R. F. Fish said he had had more men under the influence of liquor comiog to his mission tjiis year than at any time in the past. The presbytery met in private to further discuss the situation and eventually the public questions committee was asked to investigate the position and to report.
