FRIENDLY CIRCLE CHOIR

THE ANNUAL CONCERT SOME SPECIAL NUMBERS The Friendly Circle Choir's annual concert was held in the Repertory Society's room last night, when a specially selected programme of choral and solo work was presented, together with quartettes, duets, and pianoforte numbers. The conductor, Mr. J. Carrington Wellby, briefly explained several of the works, and at the conclusion thanked the performers who had helped, particularly the accompanist, Mr. Douglas Dyer. Items contributed were as follows: Chorus, "Bay of Biscay," the choir; duet, "Birds' Song at Eventide," and "Thank God for a Garden," Misses N. Caie and M. Parker; bass solo, "The Heaving of the Lead," and "Linden Lea," Mr. John Waugh; quintette, "Scenes that are Brightest" (Maritana), Misses Caie and Parker, and Messrs. Falconer and Caie, with Miss Gladys Fanning as soloist; duet, "A Flight of Clouds." a Tuscan folk song, and "From Far Away," Messrs. J. E. Mercer and Carrington Wellby; chorus, "Serenade" (Schubert), the choir; pianoforte solo, "Aufsewing" (Schumann), and "Colonial Song," (Grainger), Mr. Douglas Dyer; soprano solo, "The Ship's Song" (Teresa del Riego), and "Pale Moon," Miss Evelyn BartisGraham: chorus, ••Where'er You Walk" (Handel), the choir: fantasia from "Faust' (Gounod), the choir, with Misses Gladys Fanning and Lyle Davis and Mr. Mercer as soloists; light baritone solo, "Song of Surrey" and "Little Irish Girl," Mr. I. Falconer; bass-baritone solo, "She Alone Charmest My Sadness" (La Reine dc Saba), and "Caro Mio Ben," Mr. Carrington Wellby: duet, "O Silent Night (Giorvani) and "The Wind and the Harp," Misses Myra and Olive Black; quartette. "Grey Days" and "The Minstrel Song," arranged by Mr. Carrington Wellby from a manuscript of the year 1450; choruses. Summer is Icumen-in" (do la Hale, the last of the Troubadours, and "Angelas" (Maritana.)
