POVERTY BAY CLUB FOURS ENTRIES CLOSE SHORTLY A nomination list for the First Trial Fours of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s season will be posted at the clubhouse during the week-end, it was decided at a meeting of the committee held last evening. Those present at the meeting were Messrs. W. Glover, chairman, W. McLeod, A. Gardner, J. Green, A. Stone, T. W. Townson, G. Hadwen, R. Neilson, G. Ardern, and R. Webb. Mr. G. Smith was accorded the thanks of the club for a donation, Mr. Smith-being a vice-president of the club. The club captain notified that the boats were ready for rigging, having been thoroughly overhauled and in first-class' order for the new season. It was suggested that members assemble at the clubhouse at the weekend to assist in the rigging of the craft, in preparation for active work on the river. Nominations will then be taken for the first fours. The chairman pointed out that a few outstanding subscriptions had been paid during the past week, and that the committee anticipated a good response to the accounts which had been dispatched by the secretary to those whose subscriptions were still outstanding. Unfinancial members were reminded that until they had disposed of last year’s obligations, they would not be permitted to use the plant or take part in racing activities in the new season. Arrangements for the presentation dance, ,at which trophies won last year will be distributed, were left in the hands of the secretary, the function being fixed for early November.
