GREATER EFFICIENCY NEW STATION PROJECT £13,000 LOAN SANCTIONED In the annual report of the Gisbornc Fire Board, to be submitted to the Borough Council at to-night's meeting, the council being a contributory body to the cost of maintaining the brigade, reference is made to the.project for building a new fire station, on earthquake proof lines, at a cost of £13,000. "During the year sanction was obtained for the raising of a loan of £13,000 for the purpose of enlarging and strengthening the fire station, and also the building of four dwellings for firemen. Approximately half an acre of land immediately behind the present station has been acquired, and this js in the process of being cleared and levelled. Plans have been prepared and tenders called, and it is expected the work will shortly be put in hand. When everything is completed, quarters for the majority of the men will be available, and conditions vastly improved for their welfare, all tending towards further efficiency."
