SUCCESSFUL CONCERT "MANNEQUIN" r.\UAI>K The musical and dramatic circles of the Gisborne Townswomen's Guild held a most successful concert in the Parish Hall last evening, the entertainment being witnessed by a large audience. A novel item on the programme was the pageant of women's dresses, a display" which created much interest and amusement. Numerous "mannequins" participated in the parade, exhibiting frocks and dresses, many of which had represented the latest fashion nearly 100 years ago.
During the evening the president of the guild, Mrs. J. S. Fauids. gave a short address on the change in clothes and outlook ot women over the past 50 years.
Members of the musical circle, led by Mrs. P. Barry, presented Hawaiian melodies. A hula dance was given by Miss J. Botild, while solo Hawaiian songs were sung by Mesdanies Dennis, Baillic, Darling, Marley and Lyndon, and Misses dime and Dorothy 1 hives. The accompanist was Mrs. Lentell. Two entertaining and well acted plays were staged by the dramatic circle. Mrs. N. Hooper was responsible for the production. The titles and casts of the plays were as under:—"Tea-time Tempest": Hostess, Mrs. Scott; scandal-mongers, Mesdanies W. Davison, Cornelius and H. Hunter; a deaf .old lady, Mrs. Lange: the parlourmaid, Miss, F. Curry. "The Photographer": Photographer, Mrs. Marley; Emily, Mrs. McLauchlan; Ede, Mrs. Garbett: grandma, Mrs. N. Hooper; Aunt Maria, Mrs. H. Johnston; father, Mrs R. H. Robinson.
During the interval, a recitation was given by Miss .1. Bould.
At the conclusion of the concert: cheers were given for Mrs. Fauids. who was responsible in a large measure for the success of the function.
