BADMINTON
OPKN TOURNAMENT EASY WIN IN FINAL With a total of over 30 entrants, the Gisborne Badminton Club's open tournament, held last evening, proved an outstanding success, the winners being N. Dumont and Miss R. Stephenson. Section play occupied the earlier part of/the evening, three sections being conducted. Dumont and Miss Stephenson won the A section, F. Martin and Mrs. E. R. Brown the B section, and Mrs. R. Sloan and Miss L. Bennett the third division. In the play-off, Dumont and Miss Stephenson first defeated Martin and Mrs. Brown, after a very even game. the winners running out with a score of 15-11, and later accounted for Mrs. Sloan and Miss Bennett without much difficulty, the final score being 15-4 in their favour. The ladies' committee of the club acted as hostesses, and served c refreshing supper to players and visitors. ______
