OBITUARY
MR, JAMES (iLASSI-'nlil) A resident of Gisborne for approximately 50 years, Mr. James Glnssforct, 072 Aberdeen road, died in a private hospital Inst evening alter a short illness. The deceased, who had reached his seventy-sixth year, was born in West Kilbride, Scotland. He paid an initial visit to New Zealand as a young man and finally settled in Gisborne about 50 years ago. A popular resident of the town, Mr. Glassford was formerly a foreman in the employ of Nelson's (N.Z.), Limited, and had been living in retirement for the past eight years. He was a member of the Druids' Lodge for 38 years.
Although Mr. Glassford had been seriously ill for only two weeks, he had been in declining health for the past five years. Besides his widow, he leaves four daughters and one son.
A short service will be held at his late residence at 1.45 p.m. to-morrow, after which the funeral will depart for the Taruheru cemetery.
