WILLOW FLAT

SAWMILLING INDUSTRY AREA'S I'iOOD PROSPECTS (Herald Correspondent.) An important bridge in the Willow Flat area, near the railway to Mohaka, is nearing completion. When finished this bridge, which is long overdue, will do away with the double handling of timber at the Mohaka River crossing, which for years has been a great handicap to the industry. The Wairoa County Council is about to embark on a roading programme in conjunction with the Employment Board, and about 20 men should be at work soon, and by the time the railway is opened the lorries will be able to deliver timber at the trucks. It is stated that another mill is to be started, and altogether there is a bright future ahead for that part of the Wairoa district.
