WORLD NEED URGED

The Japanese economic mission was entertained at luncheon by the Association of the British Chambers of Commerce.
Sir Geoffrey Charles, president of the British Chambers of Commerce, said that at the recent international Chamber of Commerce congress there was almost complete unanimity among the representatives of all nations on the absolute necessity for reducing trade barriers, and one could only hope that on their return to their own countries they would be able to influence their respective Governments in that direction.
“LOOKING FOR MAGICIAN” EUROPEAN STATESMEN COMMENT BY ROOSEVELT WASHINGTON, July 14. President Roosevelt, at a conference with press representatives, emphasised that he had no intention of summoning an international conference which was desired by European statesmen. The New York Herald-Tribune reports that the President’s view is that Europe is looking for a magician with a rabbit in his hat.
