N.Z. MEAT IN LONDON RETAIL PRICE SCHEDULE , The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has been advised by its London manager, that the following retail priqes were being quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed in London during June, 1937, these prices representing a fair average of the prices quoted by the better class shops in London for the best quality of New Zealand lamb and mutton:—

Lamb.—Legs, 12d. per lb; shoulders, lid; loins, lid; necks, (id; breasts, 3d; forequarters, BAd; hindquarters, 11 Ad. Mutton (wethers): —Legs, 9d per lb; shoulders, 8d; loins, 8d; necks, 4d; breasts, 2d.

A gradual rise has been noticed in the price of onions in the last few weeks and Gisborne merchants are finding it difficult to secure good quality supplies. The shipment landed this week was new stock bought at £lO a ton, and the landed cost was in the vicinity of £l2 15s. The increase in cost has been gradual because many of the dealers have had stocks on hand to meet the demand. A more acute shortage was expected if the Government was not prepared to admit Australian onions to tide merchants over until the arrival ot supplies from Canada in September.
