MEN ON RELIEF
WORK UNDER SUBSIDY WELLINGTON TO ABSORB 2f><) (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Proposals by the acting-Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, for employing under subsidy men on relief, were adopted by the Wellington City Council to-night. The council will absorb 125 men next week, but it is expected the number later will be increased to 240 or 250. The Mavor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, pointed out that to co-operate in the scheme the council was exhausting its contingency vote.
