KEEN COUNTY CRICKET

BOWLERS IN CONTROL NOTTS’ FOUR-RUN M ARGIN AMES’ TWO CENTURIES (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Rec. July 14, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 13. The county cricket matches which were completed to-day were notable chiefly for the dominance of the bowlers, small scores being the rule, with one or two exceptions. Gloucester were dismissed by Warwick for 107 and 83, Mayer being in fine form to take seven wickets for 46 and six for 24, Warwick winning by an innings margin. The Hampshire bowler, Herman, also had excellent figures against Somerset, who were dismissed for 117 and 87, Herman taking five for 47 and seven for 51.

Despite a substantial first-innings lead, Notts had to fight hard for a win against Worcester. Steady bowling by the latter saw Notts dismissed for 137 in the second, and Worcester required only five more runs when the last wicket fell.

The best of the batting performances of the round was that of Ames, who scored 119 and 127 for Kent against Surrey. The latter’s good opening score, however, gave them the decision on the first innings, Fishlock contributing 121. The fourth century of the match was 114 by the veteran, Woolley.
