An informal conference is to be held in Wellington this week to discuss Mr. D V. Bryant’s scheme for increasing the birth-rate of New Zealand and foi dealing with other social problems of the country. Mr. Bryant stated in Hamilton that he would be attending the conference, and he hoped that a way would be found to inaugurate a campaign that would result in an improvement in the present position. The whole scheme would be thoroughly examined, and tentative suggestions would be made for bringing the scheme before the public. Fur-trimmed coats have been further reduced at Petties’ sale, and now many of the season’s brightest and smartest styles are almost half price. These attractive coats are all imported model styles, perfect in cut, fit, and finish, and the fur trimmings are really lovely. The sale nrices range from 49/6.*
