Only one tender was submitted by the Wairoa Harbour Board yesterday for painting at Waikokopu, and, as it was considered far too high, the matter v/as left to the chairman and Messrs. Corkell and Marker to deal with. Mr. M. G. M. Wililams, Maungatawhiti station, had the honour of locating on his farm last week the first lamb of the season in this district. It is, of course, an out-of-season youngster, but very hardy. At the Wairoa Harbour Board’s Meeting yesterday, Mr. F. L. Joblin was granted leave of absence. —Mr. W. J. Hill, Kairangi, whose health has been indifferent for some time, has resigned his seat on the Wairoa Hospital Board. It is understood that he may continue on the County Council. Mrs. L. Dcighton, who was admitted to the Wairoa Hospital on Sunday night, has suffered a fracture of the right thigh bone. She has recovered from the shock and is now reported to be fairly comfortable.—Leave of absence was granted to the Ven. Archdeacon Butterfield at yesterday’s meeting of the Hospital Board. Dr. H. Short, the tuberculosis specialist, is to visit this district on July 28 to attend to any patients who may need his assistance. Master Graham Glass, who has been seriously ill for some days, is reported to be improving.—Mrs. D. Byford, a former clerk in the Harbour Board’s office, is relieving during the illness of Mr. J. McLachlan. Mr. W. Taylor, the board’s secretary, also is suffering from an attack of neuritis.—Leave of absence from the August meeting of the Harbour Board was granted to Mr. H. L. Harker at yesterday’s meeting of the board.
