WORLD PEACE QUEST
MR. LANSBURY’S MISSION .WELCOMED 11V MUSSOLINI CONFERENCE ADVOCATED (Klee, Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 13, 2.30 p.m.) ROME, July 12. Alter a further discussion with II Duce, Mr. G. Lansbury, the British Labour leader, said Signor Mussolini declared that he would welcome a world peace conference dealing with territorial, economic, and financial questions, but the preparations must be thoroughly made with discussions beforehand so as to avoid failure.
Signor Mussolini expressed the opinion that the only possibility of an international agreement on disarmament was from the viewpoint of limitation, and not reduction.
Tie repeatedly affirmed that Italy had no intention of encroaching on Spain. He also expressed the opinion that no question can arise that would bring England and Italy into conflict in the Mediterranean. On the other hand, he would welcome a roundtable discussion on questions now open between the two countries, including recognition of the Abyssinian conquest.
Mr. Lansbury plans to make efforts to bring about such a discussion.
