SERVICE TO LITERATURE WHANGAEEI KESIDENT (Per Press Association.) WIIANGAREI, this day. Mr. F. W. Reed, of Whangarei, a recognised authority on Dumas, lias been awarded a silver medallion by file French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recognition of the services he has rendered to French literature in English-speaking countries. Three years ago Mr. Reed was awarded the decoration of Oflicier de (’lnstruction Publique for his services to French literature.
