MR. NASH’S MISSION TALKS IN WASHINGTON PROBLEM OF SHIPPING HOPES FOR SOLUTION (Elec. Tat. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 13, 3.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 12. The New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash, visited flic United States Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, to-day and began exploratory conversations concerning a possible trade agreement and a co-ordinatecl British and American air service between New Zealand and the United States. Mr. Nash told the Australian Associated Press that he hoped to conclude discussions on mutual problems in a manner satisfactory to both countries. New Zealand, he said, must be more closely associated with the United States economically and socially.
I\Tr. Nash, emphasised the handicap which British shipping was suffering owing to the exclusion of traffic from the United States and Hawaii. Referring to the trans-Tasman service, he pointed out that the new legislation had not yet been applied, and he indicated that he would seek an adjustment in the hope of preventing continued disagreement.
