WRESTLING
McCREADY BACK AGAIN SATURDAY’S PRO. CONTEST Earl McCready, idol of wrestling enthusiasts throughout the Dominion, will make his first appearance at Gisborne this 'season on Saturday night, when he will be opposed by Metros Kirilinko, the fast and unorthodox Cossack wrestler. Enthusiasm for wrestling has been running particularly high in New Zealand this year and, if anything could be done to make it even keener, it has been achieved by the arrival of the ever-popular Canadian holder of the British Empire professional heavyweight title, who is also a leading contender for the world championship. It is recognised that although the Dominion Union has imported some exceptionally fine talent this year, the new men will have to prove themselves against McCready before the public will accept them as the best that have been seen. McCready was no sooner back than he expressed his willingness to meet all comers, as usual, and the form which he has displayed indicates that those who wish to challenge his position will find him an even tougher proposition than in the past. Kirilinko is a man who not only has an exceptionally good overseas record, but who also has reproduced in New Zealand the form which made him a big drawing card in the United States. Unorthodox in many ways, he displays strength, speed, and science in everything he does and there is no doubt that he will prove a whole box of tricks for McCready to puzzle out. . . The Gisborne Wrestling Association is arranging an attractive series of amateur contests as preliminaries to the McCready-Kirilinko professional match.
