rOLK’H PROUD <>!•' TIIB.U NEW YORK, May 12. As a reward lor polishing the boots of New York policemen for 50 years. Mr.. Phil Cestaro has been presented with a huge basket of white and yellow roses, a silver loving cup. and 100 dollars (£2O). Mr. Byrnes MacDonald, sixth Deputy Police Commissioner, made the presentation while a platoon of policemen stood to attention. Congratulating the bootblack on his long service he said: — ‘‘The Police Department is proud of your work for you always sent a patrol-man out on duty with a shine. That shine helped to brighten the spirits of the men, for nobody could look at your shines without having a feeling of complete satisfaction.”
