BADMINTON

GISBORNE TOO GOOD VISIT To TK KARAKA (Herald Correspondent.) Last night members of the Waikohu Badminton Club played their first inter-club match this season when a team from the Gisborne Badminton Club journeyed out to Te Karaka. A very enjoyable evening's play resulted, the visitors proving their superiority by winning eight games out of a 12. During the supper interval Mr. L. Cooper, president of the Gisborne club, presented to the aWikohu club a handsome silver cup and two miniatures for competition among its members.

The Waikohu captain. Mr. T. Tombleson, thanked Mr. Cooper for his generous donation, members showing their appreciation by giving three hearty cheers. Messrs. Mitchell and Lloyd, or. behalf of the Gisborne club, returned thanks for the hospitality shown them and invited the Waikohu club to play a return match in Gisborne at an early date.

Games played were as follows, Gisborne players being mentioned first in each case:—

Men's Doubles. —E. Rosie and If. Downey lost: In J. Holdsworth and K. Reynolds, 15—21: T. Nfiyen and W. Dumont d. T. Tombleson and E. Cranswick, 21—17; A. Lentell and C. Fraser d. W. Scott and E. Rum, 21—10.

Ladies' Doubles.—Misses E. Clark and M. Pirio lost, to Misses .1. and J. Scott. 11 -21; Mosdames Witters and Lloyd d. Misses V. Seamons and B. Gould. 21—8; Misses C. and L. Johnson d. Mrs. Cranswick and Miss N. Coates, 21—8.

Combined Doubles.—E. Rosie and Miss R. Clark lost to .J. lloldsworfh and Miss Juliet Scott. 13 -21: If Downey and Miss M. Pirie lost to R. Reynolds and Miss Josephine Scott. 22—23: T.
