SPRINGBOKS ARE GIRL-SHY
MELBOURNE, June 19. Five big Springbok footballers, who have no qualms about throwing themselves at the feet of a pack of charging Rugby Union forwards, are timorous about facing Melbourne girls. To-night, after their match against Victoria, they had a free night, and would have liked to go to a dance, but they had no partners. Although they were given the opportunity to meet scores of girls they were tonguetied about asking for partners. A friend offered to introduce them beforehand to some girls who would have been pleased to dance with'them, but the “ten-to-the-ton” men shrank from the offer. , • a." Fancy having to meet a girl you’ve never seen before, and take her to a dance,” they said.
