A WET JUNE
RAINFALL IN GISBORNE AfmLW ON IT DAYS The June rainfall in Gisborne totalled 5.55., according to the gauge at the Harbour Board's signal station and 5.36 in., according to the gauge at the climatological station at the Darton Field Aerodrome. There were 17 days on which rain was registered. Calculated over a period of 60 years the average rainfall for June is 4.82 in. The month's total included two heavy falls, the signal station gauge registering 1.43 in„ on June 16 and 1.70 in., on June 23, while the remaining 2.42 in„ was well spread fiver the other wet days. , June was the first wet month Gisborne had experienced since January, the totals for February, March, April and May being well below the monthly averages. In fact, for tho lour months just mentioned the total was only 8.72 in., compared with 21.9 Gin„ for the same period last year, while the average for the four months is 17 11 in. For the first six months oi the year to date 19.23 in„ was registered at the signal station, as against 28.47 in., last year.
