SHY SUITORS
ADVICE FOR GIRLS LONDON, June 18. That girls should encourage shy suitors is the view of Dr. T. Drummond Shiels, formerly a Labour member of Parliament. He expressed it when discussing “the art of courtship” at a summer schoolof the British Social Hygiene Council. Dr. Shiels said: “There is no doubt that there have been cases where a shy man who has been very much attracted to a girl would have been greatly helped by a little more frankness and honesty on the part of the girl. Very often, because of her conventional ideas, a woman, if attracted to a man, makes a point of being particularly disagreeable to him for fear he should think that she is running after him.”
