SAVED SHIP BIG FINE
SMUGGLED OPIUM FOUND LONDON, May 12. Mr. ,1. Case, second mate of the BUie Fuuel sleumei Moron, saved his ship a £20,000 fine by the United States authorities for carrying smuggled opium. It was suspected that opium was aboard when the ship left the Far East. Fifty officers of the United States Narcotic Squad, aided by G-men, searched the ship from keel to truck in American waters. They found nothing. When the vessel was at sea Mr. Case and the first mate made a search on their own account. They found (1000 ounces of opium concealed in oil barrels. United States Federal authorities will reward them with £OOO.
