WAIAPU FOOTBALL CLUB
GENERAL MEETING TEAM FOR DUFF CUP MATCH (Herald Correspondent.) The Waiapu City Football Club held a general meeting in the Memorial Hall at Tikitiki. After an enjoyable afternoon tea, the business wsis considered, mainly the adoption of the balance sheet, the appointment of a new treasurer, Mr. .1 Smith, and a talk on the forthcoming matches, viz.: The Dull' Cup match. City (holders) v. Rangers (challengers), on July 3, both local teams, and the Whaknrua Cup match. City (holders) v. Ruatoria United (challengers), on July 8. The two challenging teams are reported to be very strong and therefore hard propositions. Mr. F. Manuel strongly advised all players to get into serious training, for fitness and enthusiasm were essential factors in football. At the conclusion of the meeting a vole of thanks to all the helpers was carried unanimously. The following players have been chosen by the selectors, Messrs. Ferris, Paenga and Tibbie, to represent the club in the match against Rangers next Saturday at Tikitiki: — Fullback, K. Wanoa: three-quarters, S. Haenga, If. Temaro, and S. Goldsmith: five-eighths, P. I’okai and M. Poi; half, T. Poi; forwards, Ferris, vice-captain, .1. Tibbie. Paenga, W. Tibbie, Smith, M. Kururangi, G. Taiapa, and T. Tibbie, captain. Reserves: W. Taiapa, J. Tc Knwa, M. Katae, J. Manuel, and J. Takoko.
