CARRYING CHARGES
RATES IN TOWN PROPOSED SCHEDULE The Gisborne Carriers and Forwarding Agents' Union of Employers submitted to the Borough Council last night a schedule of cartage rates for approval. The council referred the matter to the works committee. Charges decided on by the union were;--General cartage, 4s Gd per cubic ton; minimum of 2ft., Is Gd; sft. to 10ft., 2s; 201’t., 2s Gd; 30ft., 3s Gd; 40ft., 4s Gd. Wire, 5s per ton; iron, scwt. cases, Is Gd per case; grain, 4s per ton, kerbside, extra labour for carrying or slacking to be charged Is per cubic ton extra; manures, as general cargo: cement, plaster and lime, 3s per cubic ton or weight; case spirits, Gs per ton; barrels, Is Gd each; structural steel or iron and galvanised pipes, Gs per ton. Timber, ex-wharf and rail, lOd per 100 super feet for hard, and Is for soft: timber ex-yards to jobs. Is per 100 super feet: joinery, as per time basis; posts, wharf to town yards, 1 Or. to 15s: pui'iri strainers, 9d each; battens, fis per 100; bricks, 17s Oil pet--1000. Sand, ex Kaiti bench, 5s per yard with minimum of 10s plus royalty; shingle, ex Kaiti Beach, 10s per yard plus royalty; shingle or sand ex Wainul Beach, 15s a yard plus royalty. Coal, ex ship to yards, fis per ton; wool ex town store to wharf, and rail to store, Gd per bale. Firewood, ex rail, 30s per truck for 4ft. lengths; mill wood, ex rail, 35s pettruck; posts or battens, ex rail, birch and totara, as ex wharf rate. Lorry hire. —Under 20cwt., Gs pethour; 20 to fiOcwt., 7s Gd; 40cwt., 10s; OOcwt., 12s Gd; extra, labour, fis pethour, plus Is per ton per mile outside a two-mile radius. Deliveries ex shops or stores. —Parcels or packages up to 281 b, Is; any packages exceeding this weight, at general rates. The schedule was referred to the works committee.
