RUGBY TOUR STARTS

. POVERTY BAY CHANGES HAWKE’S DAY FIXTURE Tiie Poverty Bay senior Rugby representative team left Gisborne this afternoon on its tour, during the course of which it will meet Hawke’s Bay in Hastings to-morrow afternoon and the representatives of the Wanganui union in Wanganui on Saturday. Several changes have been made in the team since it was first announced, on account of one of the forwards, E Q'llalloran, not being available. Much interest will be taken in tomorrow's fixture in view of the fact that the New Zealand selectors will be on the sideline and 14 All Blacktrial nominees will be taking part in tiie game. Eleven of the nominated men will be on tiie Hawke's Bay side and only three in the Poverty Bay team. Tiie result of tiie match will give some indication of the strength of the Poverty Bay team against a strong fifteen. The Magpies had a slashing victory over Wairarapa, and when the touring team met Poverty Bay on June 12 the decision was close. The team on tour now, however, lias seen several changes since the match against Wairarapa, and it is generally thought by the members of the Poverty Bay union that Hawke’s Bay will not repeat the easy victory they had over the Wairarapa team. A general shuffle round in the pack was necessary when tiie sole selector Mr. T. French, was informed that one of the (lank men was unable to obtain leave. One of the emergencies, M. Rogers, was stepped up into the front row. D. Thompson was placed in the back row of the scium, and R. Rogers filled the gap on the Hank. B. Docks and R. Bradford arc now the emergency forwards, and D. Swinburne travelled with the team as the spare back. Following is the team: Fullback, G. Brown: three-quarters, E. Grant, A. Webster and A. McAncney; liveeighths, W. Bright and .1. Thompson:

halfback, J. Milligan; front row forwards, C. Waide, J. Leach and M. Rogers; middle row, R. Rogers, W. Steel, R. Spence and F. McAncney, captain; back row, D. Thompson. Emergency forwards, Dods and Bradford; emergency back, D. Swinburne.
