PURE MILK SUPPLY

IMPORTANCE TO HEALTH PASTEURISATION URC!ED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Interesting comments on tuberculosis as it affects hitmans and animals was made by Dr. T. D. Stout in addressing the New Zealand branch of the Veterinary Association to-day. Dr. Stout, who is president of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, referred to the important part a pure milk supply played in maintaining the health of the community, and in this connection said that the mixing of the milk of many cows and many herds lessened the risk, and where the milk was pasteurised as well as mixed the risk must be non-existent. He also felt that all cows from which milk was utilised for human consumption should be periodically subjected to the tuberculin test. If this was carried out lie felt that bovine tuberculosis could be eliminated in New Zealand and human tuberculosis much ameliorated. I-Ie mentioned also that there were other diseases spread by means of milk from which pasteurisation acts as a preventive.
