GISBORNE PARK CLUB

WEEK-END RESULTS CITRJSP CUP PROGRESS Conditions were favourable for golfers during the week-end And many enjoyable games were played by the members of the Gisborne Hark Golf Club. The games in progress were the second round of the Chrisp Cup, a bogey competition, and the Dryland Challenge Cup match. The semi-finalists were decided in the competition for the Chrisp Cup and the games on Saturday resulted as follow : K. C. Everett "(36) beat J. 0. Bray (31). 3 and 2. G. Ardern (3a) bent W. A. Hall (36). at the twentieth. R, T. Porter (25) bent L. C. Rade (28), 3 and 2.

J. A. Williams (27) beat P. A. Gavin (28), 6 and 4. 'Hie bogey competition resulted in a win for T. Perc (13), who played good golf to come out all square. Other good cards were banded in as follow :—J. A. Williams (20), 1 down; N. S. Kenwood (14), 2 downfß. Oederwall (16), 3 down; T, Warner (16), 3 down; K. R, Kay (11), 4 down; J. Kilgariff (12), 4 down; A. Brodie (17). 4 down. The first Dryland Challenge Cup match was played during the week-end and the challengers, G. H. Stewart (31) and P. H. Dow (14), were successful over the holders, S. Dryland (25) and G. L. Winter (8), three and two. The next

challengers will, bo announced on Thursday. The matches next week will be a medal round and the semi-final for the Chrisp Cnp. On dune 20 an interchange of visits will take place between the Park and Tolaga Bay clubs. The men members are reminded of the King's Birthday tournament and are asked to arrange their own partners for the medal round in the morning and Stableford bogey in tho afternoon.

Next Saturday having been booked for the match with the Napier club, match play in the Reynolds Cup tournament will not commence until .June 12. when the first round wiil lie played. The second 32 in the qualifying tound also will lie provided with match competition for dune 12. and an endeavour will be made to offer match play to a fnrtner 16 in this tournament.

The mouth's tankard competition whs completed on Saturday, the competition being based on three best cards and a test round. I). B. Barry. 109-28—137. D. M. Melldowie. 104 33-137. and T. .1. Corkery, 108— 29—137. ,fying for first place. A play-off was arranged, in which Melldowie. returning a test card of 34. was declared the winner.

A competition on the same basis for players with handicaps of 15 or over was won by S. Y. Dndrrshun. ,14—34—148, 'with W. D. Morlev. 108—33 —141. as runner-up. Both players gave good accounts of themselves.

Dodgshun Cup Qualifiers

The qualifying round for the Dodgshun Cup was played during the week-end, when it was announced that the first and second rounds ol match play would start on June 9. W. I). Armstrong is the holder of the cup, winning it in the first year or competition. The first and second 16 qualifiers will play off scratch, and the third 16 to qualify will play on a handicap basis, while those remaining will take part in card competitions.
