ILLNESS OF THE POPE
DOCTOR ORDERS REST BIRTHDAY BROADCAST VATICAN CITY, May 30. The Pope is suffering from a slight return of arterio scelerosis and is only able to walk a few steps. His physician has ordered a complete rest and placed him on a vegetarian diet. Nevertheless, the Pope will celebrate his eightieth birthday to-mor-row bv inaugurating the- Papal academy of sciences. His speech will be translated into six languages and broadcast throughout the world.
