I GAMES AT THE OVAL KEEN JUNIOR TUSSLE OLD BOYS BEAT MARIST Rugby followers were again favoured with good weather to-day when the Poverty Bay union's competitions were continued on the Oval and the High School grounds, the attendance being excellent. and principal interest attaching to the senior engagement, H. 5.0.8. and Old Boys. The grounds were in good condition. . , The grandstand ground was occupied during the earlier part of the afternoon by the junior match between Old Boys B" and Marist, Old Boys running out the winners after a well sustained effort, which wore down! {their opponents' resistance and furnished a comfortable margin of points at the finish of the game. Excellent Early Form Marist played from the seaward end iu the first half and produced excellent form as far as the interval, constantly threatening their opponents' goal-lino and being unlucky not to score one or two tries at least. After the changeover, however, it became apparent that Marist had done their best and though they made a good rally to equalise the score at three-all, their defence broke down badly and Old Boys crossed their line on three further occasions. Old Boys' early tries were registered by ir.'Sebire, Short and 11. Senile, the last-mentioned converting one of the tries, while for Marist, Bean registered an unconverted try to finish off a first-class forward effort. The final score was 14 to three in favour of Old Boys. Mr. V. Xorman was the referee. Seore3 in other junior matches Were:— Juniors High School 27, v.'P.W.D. nil. Celtic 0, y. H. 5.0.8. 6. Third Grade H. 5.0.8. -.1, v. Y.M.r. nil. Old Boys 6 Celtic nil.
