The highest of the four tenders was C2C7. the other three being £2OO. £l5O, and Cl2O respectively. Reporting to to-day's meeting ol the board, the works committee recommended the rejection of all four lenders, and proposed that Lhe board should authorise the committee to investigate the possibility of removing certain parts ol the vessel's equiprnenl which inighl he t\<rA hv the board, or sold In advantage. 'Comment that the offers received were paltry, and that the provision uf slipping conditions was a condition of each ol those received, was made by the deputychairman, Mr. A. J. N'icol.' when the. report came before the board. He pointed out that there were portions of the machinery and equipment which would be of value if thev were taken out of the dredge and placed on the wharf ready for shipment. The committee was authorised to take lhe recommended steps in regard to the dredge.
