Westport.—May 29: Sailed, 12,35 p.m., Tolai'a, from Gisborne, Lyttelton.— May 29: Arrived, Ilnngatirn, 6.40 a.m., from Wellington; Winpulii, 4.30 a.in.. I'rnm Tiimirn ; Smith Africa, 9.10 a.m.. from 'Wellington. The inquest into the death of Donald Crompton, aged about, 10, who was drowned in the Otara River on May 8 as the result of his boat capsizing, was concluded before the district coroner, Mr. F. J. Short, at Opotiki. The coroner’s verdict was that deceased was accidentally drowned. The coroner said he felt it his duty to emphasise the danger of boys playing with home-made boats. There might easily have been a triple drowning.
