The present Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Seniple, is only the second Minister of the Crown to traverse the coastal route between Opotiki ano Gisborne by motor car. Sir. A. Gordon ilultquist, M.P., mentioned this in Tolaga Bay yesterday when speaking at a deputation from the L'awa County Council. The Hon. F. Langstone. Minister of Lands, was the first over to accomplish it in a cur. although the late Hon. W. 1). S. MaeDonahl bad made the trip on horseback.

Members of (he St. .John Ambulance Brigade assembled on Thursday evening to meet Mr. ('. J. Tmiks. Auckland district commissioner for the brigade, and Mr. E. Langstone, secretarymanager of the Auckland centre. After brigade matters had been dealt with, the visiting officers took the opportunity of screening moving pictures depicting brigade activities in many parts of the Dominion, A special film was screened also illustrating a blood transfusion operation.
