OFFICERS OF LEANDER
CRUISER TOR DOMINION ARRIVAL IN AUGUST A complete list of officers for the cruiser Lcander, which is expected to arrive at Auckland iu August for attachment io the Mow Zealand Division of tho Royal Navy iu succession to 11.M.5. Duiicdin, has been received iu Mew Zealand. Captain ,7. W. Hivctt-Carnnc, D.S.C., assumed command of the ship earlier in the year, and included among his ofliccr.s are two New Zoalanders who weal- home as rulings and have 'been promoted to warrant rank. Another officer, Sub-Lieutenant G. 11. 11. CulmcSeymour, has been transferred from H.M.S. Dunedin to H.M.S. Lcander.
For the first time a ship on the Mew Zealand station is to have a chaplain of her own, the E'ev. C. B'. Ellis having been appointed to H.M.S. Leander for its lirst New Zealand commission. It is only rarely that cruisers have permanent chaplains included among their officers, and in tho past warships serving in New Zealand have had the services of local ministers.
11.M.5. Lcander is at present serving with the 2nd Cruiser Squadron of the Homo Elect, and has lately been included among the vessels reviewed Iby His Majesty King George as part of the Coronation celebrations. Before she leaves for New Zealand she will see more service in Home waters.

The New Zealandors who have won promotion to warrant rank, a comparatively rare distinction, are WarrantEngineer llalliu and Warrant-Electric-ian Barlow.
