It is reported that the King expressed a desire to recognise the services which Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, Lord President of the Council, who is retiring, lias rendered to the State in the course of a long number of years and that the King asked whether Air. MacDonald would accept a high hereditary honour.
It is understood that Air. AlaoDonnld, while fully appreciative of the kindness and thoughtfulness of Bis Majesty, asked the King to permit him to decline and that permission was given.
