"In accordance with the undertaking 1 gave on April 7, I have made farther inquiries into the question as to whether the salaries of members of Parliament, should he increased,'’ he said. "The existing figure of WOO was fixed in 1911. It is. I think, obvious that if WOO was adequate in the circumstances then existing, if cannot he so regarded in the very different conditions which prevail 10-dny. "After careful consideration, the Government has decided to propose that the figure should he increased to ,G6CO. and the necessary steps will be taken at an earlv date."
