Y.M.C.A. ON THE COAST

SIR A. NGATAjS INTEREST OFFICIAIi ENCOURAGED (Special to the Herald.) RITATOEJA, this day. Interest and pleasure that the Y.ARC.A. is at present investigating the possibility of 'tbe establishment of Y.ARC.A. gymnasium and club centres on tiie Coast has been expressed by Sir Apirana Ngata. In an interview with tbe Y.ARC.A. secretary, who is conducting the survey. Sir Apirana stated that the providing of facilities whereby the young men of the districts might be given an opportunity of a healthy outlet for their energies was a scheme to be commended and should be of definite value in the life of the Community. That the interest and support of the older Maori generation would he behind any successful activity for the youth of the Coast was assured by him.

The method of approach to the many problems facing the establishment ot association centres over such a wide and scattered area is at present being investigated and it is hoped that shortly a definite scheme will be launched.

The commendation of Sir Apirana Ngata is most encouraging to the Y.ARC.A. officials.
