The weather was fine and the wicket soft, after overnight rain, for the opening match between Cambridge and the New Zealand cricketers. Cambridge took first strike.
New Zealand" omitted Kerr, Weir, Donnelly, Tindill, and Vivian. The Cambridge team is: A. F. T. White, Payton, Tindil, Yardley, I'aule, Gibb, Rought-Bought, Cameron, W. White, Kaye, and Fraser.

At Marylebone the tourists in their first innings made 376 runs. Barnett contributed 12, Worthington 156, Hammond 47, Leyland 25 and Robins 58. Cover took three wickets for 76 runs, Stephenson, four for 90 t and Langridge, two for 58.
The Rest in their first innings have lost one wicket for four runs.
