OBITUARY

MR, RALPH FREDERICKS

A former well-known member of the grocery trade in Gisborne, Mr. Ralph Fredericks, died in hospital in Auckland mi Monday after a short illness. The deceased, who had reached .his sixtyeighth year, moved to jo November lust.

Born at. PR-ton, the late Mr. Fredericks passed the first 30 years of his life in that locality before coming to the North Island. His marriage took place in Blenheim and subsequently be lived in Palmerston North and Auckland before moving tn Gisborne. Mr. Fredericks found employment in several grocery shops .in Gisborne, including Messrs. J. J'/. McKhdey and Company, on whose staff be was employed for about six years, before, going into partnership with Mr. T. Wilson in a shop of their own. For a time Mr. Fredericks held the position of secretary of the Gisborne Grocers' Union.

W.hen he removed to Auckland iu November he was accompanied by his three daughters, Misses ('., 10.. and J. Fredericks. Mrs. Fredericks predeceased her husband four years ago.

Thcro remain five daughters to mourn their loss, Mrs. K. Marshall, rind tho Misses C, E., and J. Fredericks, Auck land, and Mrs. M. Chapman, Gisborne. The interment will take place in Gisborne. Following a short service in Cochrano's privato chapel at 1.45 p.m. to-morrow, the funeral will proceed to tho Taruheru cemetery.
