TRAINING WORK

GISBORNE HORSES KAHUNOKE IMPRESSES (By "Cynic") Conditions were perfect this morning for training work at the Park and a lot of useful work was done by horses engaged at Napier Park. Singing Gold (F. Dunn) was the hrst to work, the brown mare's task being two rounds at a strong half-pace, mushing up at top. Puccini, with his owner, ffir. n. iiDods, in the pigskin, was given work of a solid nature over two rounds, the gelding is a frceworker. Big Hook (J. Turnbull) went two easy rounds and looks quite in order to take his place in the Cornwall Haudica P- , , , Marching Song was schooled over a round of the schooling hurdles in company with Hob Roy. ' Defend (Zuppicich) hit out pleasingly in her work and is showing signs of improvement, being a, well-grown sort; she may take time, to reach her best. Rapa Waiata had the services of Mr. H. H, Bods, doing a couple of rounds at half-pace. The brown gelding appears to have' thrown off the soreness which was troubling him. lyihunoke, a member of N. Davis' team, was responsible for some good work and evidently has been well done prior to being placed in commission. Hinepit .(Kellett) was given her first gallop for some time and was allowed to do it comfortably, running live furlongs in Imin. 7sec. Bothwell > gave Mr. H. Dods some bother in holding him in the early stages of his work, which was two rounds at a strong half pace.

Gay Hunter (Kellett) was sent a working gallop over five furlongs. The bay colt is engaged at Napier Park and should only require a few gallops to have him at his best.

Sly Fox (Dunn) is training on nicely and" is carrying the right condition. This colt should be at his best in the early stages of his three-year-old career. Grand Spot (Sadler) was given sound work, being kept up to his task all the way. The grey is a lazy worker. Pirima (Davis) did her work well, going freely and well over two rounds. All going well with her preparations, the brown mare should be at her best for (Tie local winter meeting. Ihu (Kellett) was given his first gallop Tor some tunc, running home from the three furlong post in 41 2-ssec, and doing it easily. Mailman (Kellett) ran four furlongs in 51sec, doing it very comfortably. The biack gelding is now in the position to show his best.

The Lord Warden-Luminant filly and Warstep colt were companions in a light task. Both are improving. The former is growing into a fine filly. Ua-Ia (Kellett) ran three, furlongs in 30sec., going «evenly throughout the gallop. The bay mare is looking very well and should be a good stake-winner next season.

Mendelssohn (Kellett) was sprinted up the straight twice and is now well for. ward in his preparation. The brother to Pennycomequick will race at the local winter meeting.
