MONTHLY MEETING CONFERENCE DELEGATES The May and special meeting of the Cook Countv Council was held to-day, Cr. Charles "Matthews being in the chair., and there being present also Crs. W. G. ( "■»>'■ , M- ,1 On the motion of Or. lombleson, seconded by Cr. Hall, a vote of thanks was extended to the chairman lor his report on the year's activities. Cr. Benson said there was one small exception to be taken, as he hardly thought that the system of riding finance was out of date. Notification of the 1937 conference ol the New Zealand Counties' Association, to be held in Wellington on August 25, 26, and 27, was received from the secretary of the. association, Mr. J. Pow.—Cr. Sherratt said that in view of the state of the finances he did not, think it wise to carry on with the usual course of sending delegates this year. Cr. F. S. Bowen considered that that was all the more reason why the conference should be attended as the council wanted to pin them down to something definite for the county. Cr. Sherratt withdrew bis objection, but said he wished to discuss' the matter with the council. The chairman considered if in the same light as Cr. Bowen and thought that it was more essential this year than previously to be represented at the conference. 'On the motion of Cr. Benson, seconded by Cr. Bowen, the chairman and county clerk, Mr. F. T. Robinson, were appointed the delegates of the comity to attend the conference.
