CROSSING OF ATLANTIC
CHALLENGER FOR CUP
ENDEAVOUR'S ARRIVAL
NEWPORT, May 15,
The British yacht Endeavour, challenger for the America's Cup, arrived to-day, towed by the Viva, which relieved the coastguard cutter 20 miles out.
The Endeavour was escorted by the yacht Yankee and the schooner Atlantic.
Captain Ned Heard said the crew of 10 were none the worse as a result of their experience. He revealed that the tow-line had been purposely dropped at. the height of the storm to make the going easier in the "heavy sea. The Viva's crew were unaware of this. The Endeavour was becalmed for three days, but had no difficulty after that.
