Tu an endeavour to popularise boxing in the district, the Ilawke's Bay Boxing Association circularised professional boxers in New Zealand inviting them to take part in a series of bouts during the current Reason. Thirty invitations were sent out and to date the association has received 17 acceptances and no refusals. '" '
