"KITCHEN" PARTY (Herald Correspondent.) A delightful "kitchen" party was given oh Saturday afternoon by Misses Gladys Lade and Pita Atkins til the home of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. 11. Atkins, Patutahi. in honour of Miss Norma Bryson, whose marriage to Mr. It. Campbell takes place next week. Autumn-tinted foliage and red berries were ell'ectively arranged for the decoration of the drawing-room, where the were entertained. Two novel competitions caused much amusement, the winners of the first being Mrs. 0. Scragg and the second Mesdames 11. Ritchie and \V. Bryson and Miss P. Bead, tie. A delicious afternoon tea was served, after which the guest of honour was presented with a charming laundry bouquet, a kitty kitchen and a large variety of useful gifts for her future kitchen. Miss Bryson was assisted in the opening of her gifts by her bridesmaid-to-be, Miss Molly Bryson. The recipient thanked the guests in a few suitable words. The hostesses received their guests, Miss G. Eade, wearing a smart navy and green jumper suit, while Miss R. Atkins chose a frock of navy arid white pin-spot wool crepe. A smart frock of brown tweed and a brown velvet hat were worn by the guest, of honour. Tier sister, Miss Molly Bryson, was frbckcd in a navy and white check ensemble, and hat to match. Among the guests were Mesdames H. Atkins, R. .T. Eade, W. Bryson, (I. Scragg, T. Eade, jun., Randall Eade, H. Ritchie, A. McGnveston and B. Lyons; Misses N. Melville, A. 'Ritchie, P. Bead and J. Bryson. The total rainfall recorded in this district for April was o.flSin. Bain fell on 11 days, the heaviest fall being .ftlin. on April 1. Two frosts on April 28 and L'O were the first seen in the district this year. The rainfall for the corresponding month last year was 1.28 in.
