Sir,—So again "C.S." lifts up his head. It is rather unfortunate for him that my letter appeared in your issue of March 30, two days before the date he gives. Consequently his little quip about April 1 loses point. Apparently my quotation from your editorial "columns, anil my remarks thereon, do not suit, your correspondent's book. However, 1 make no apology for that. To many the main activity of the Labour Party is the socialisation of industry, and it cannot be denied that considerable advance has been made towards that ideal.

As to the work of our local member, arc his strenuous activities Hull ml minuted in the resumption of work on the Gisborne-Nnpier railway beingoverlooked? Is the distribution in the district of wages totalling £J0l)0 weekly to be deemed a thing of no account? That, however, is only one activity that has borne good fruit. If "(i'.S." calls on the president of the Gisborne .branch of the Labour I'jirly he will no doubt hear of others. When he makes that call he can put his querv regarding Mr. Imrmird's suggested visit. Maybe he would rather that the Thirty Thousand Club had been approached, representing, as if does, a cross-section of the whole community.
