WEEK-END MISHAPS

DUCK SHOOTING TRAGEDY YOUTH OF 17 .PERISHES (Par Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Inst night. A tragedy attended the opening ol the duck shooting season in the. Wuirarapa on Saturday, John Reginald Cole, aged 17, dying in the Grey town Hospital at. a result of a gunshot wound. He was shooting on Saturday morning in a reserve a few miles out of Featherston with a party of other sportsmen. It appears thai his gun was discharged when his dog jumped up at him, the bullet, injuring his arm and entering the armpit. He was conveyed to the Greytown Hospital, where his arm was amputated, but he died there at 3.30 o'clock the same sifternoon.

Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs G. T. Cole, Western Lake, feathers ton.

WELLINGTON', last night

With a loud report, a large oven on display at. the Wellington Coronation Show exploded on Saturday night, and injured the demonstrator, Mr. .1. H. Brewer, a. cook, who was sent to hospital suffering from concussion and a scalp wound. The, explosion strained the sides, and blew a gaping hide in the top of the oven, which stood higher than a man, and sent towards the roof it shower of fluffy white particles of heat insulation material, and also burst open the door in front, which, it is thought, struck Mr. Brewer on the head.

Mr. Albeit Henry Tavendale, aged 2l', single, died in hospital an hour after admission last evening from head injuries he received when the motor-cycle he was riding collided head-on with a dray in Sawyer's Arms road, Pnpamti.

SEIZURE CAUSES ACCIDENT

(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, last night. When n car left the road near Marton on Saturday, John .Tames Tylco, aged SI! years, :i retired farmer, received head injuries from which he died shortly after his removal to his home. A neighbour, Mrs. George Black, who was a passenger in the car, received minor cuts about the face. Medical opinion suggests that a heart seizure was the cause of tho accident.
