TRAGEDY IN SAMOA
LOSS OF TWO LIVES CRASH OF MOTOR LORRY APIA, May 1. When carrying bananas for th* Government steamer Maui Pomare, a lorry belonging to the Gold Star Transport Company overturned while passing through the village of Afega. Two Samoans, the owners of the bananas, who were travelling with the lorry, were fatally injured. The driver, Leslie Jessop, was not seriously injured.
The accident was caused by a large pig suddenly crossing the road, and the driver of the lorry swerving to avoid hitting it.
