The Gisborne track was in first-class order on Saturday morning and J here was some interesting .work done. Singing Cold (Dunn) and Defame (Davis) sprinted throe furlongs in 39seo. The latter is a half-sister io Prince Colossus. Pennycomequick (Kellett) ran .seven furlongs in 1.32, doing it easily. Sly Fox (Houghton) bringing her home over the last half-mile. Phrenology (Redstone) finished better than Paul Robeson (Fcnton, jun.) over five furlongs in 1.2 3-b\ Sliani (Croskery) pleased bettor than Unexpected (Houghton) over live furlongs in 1.5. Boil) are engaged at the coining Hawke's Bay meeting. Marching! Song (Zuppicich) and Rob Hoy (Pods) were jumped over three fences, which was accomplished in good style. BothweU (Rangi) went a round over the schooling fences in 1.47. Considering the state of the track, the time was on the slow side. unexpected and Holme Fell, earlier in the week, went a round in 1.44. both jumping in a very proficient style. Cay Hunter is doing a good deal of pace'work on which he is apparently thriving. Minnow is looking! a good deal better as I lie result of Iwv let-up since Ruatoria and should soon be. back to her best. Quaint was very sore after her last race nt Ruatoria and is now quite sound again. Mr. P. Biggar has shifted his leanMo new quarters at Cameron road, Legion Queen and day Bird and a two-year-old colt by Commandant, being the active members. Jay Bird is to be raced over hurdles in future. The black mare is a good jumper. Hunting Jav figures among the entrants for the ' Hack and' Hunters' Steeplechase at Otaki. \Y. McDowell has had the gelding for some time and will ride him in his engagements. Head Shepherd is looking well, and will be placed in work again as soon as the ground gets a hit softer. Flying Comedy is a. nice mover and works in a manner that augurs well for her fnl lire. * ■::• -x- * Miracle was interfered with by Silver Slipper when the Seigt'ried gelding failed to gain a place in the Parkshkle Handicap on the Ih'st day at Oamaru, and his win in the Pukeuri Highweight on the second day was not unexpected.

Russet Moor was following bounds at Awapuni oil Saturday. The brown gelding can truly be described as a particularly fine type and is in the first flight as* a juniper.
