M AK ARAK A - MAT A WHER 0 ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Maka-vaka-Kfatawhero Women's Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon, when Kirs. A. Lange presided'over an attendance of ,°>S members. Numerous apologies for absence wore received. The annual reports of the'secretary and treasurer were adopted, all detailing a most, successful year's work. The circles also reviewed a ’year of success,, showing that each had enthusiastic followers. The committee for the ensuing year was elected, after which votes of appreciation woro passed to the retiring secretary and members.

Mrs. Cornelius was elected delegate to attend the council’meeting next month. An invitation to attend its birthday on March 20 was accepted from the Waerenga-a-hikn. Women's Institute. All members wishing to attend wore asked to telephone Mrs. Wilcox for information regarding transport. The drama circle, which recently has added outstanding talent to its numbers, has decided to stage a concert on April 0 in the Makaraka Hall. Arrangements were mado for the institute birthday party, which will be an evening function at which husbands, friends and children will join in the celebrations. The date arranged was April 10. The ‘ competition, something new' from something old, resulted in Mrs. Edwards receiving a prize for'the only exhibit, a pair of slippers made from a discarded felt hat.

After a lengthy business discussion, the meeting closed with the National Anthem.
